Time once again to vote for your Player of the Month, this time for January which was a month of mixed emotions and fortunes for Ronnie Moore's men. Despite results, the performances were mostly good and there must be a number of contenders for the award this time around.

It's time once again to vote for your Player of the Month, this time for January which was a busy and mixed month for Ronnie Moore's men.

The month began with a trip to local rivals Crewe Alexandra on New Years Day for a game which saw seven goals and a sending off for Ian Goodison as Rovers lost 4-3.

The Jamaican defender's red card proved costly for Rovers as they went on to concede ten goals in four and a half matches in his absence before he returned for a run of four matches unbeaten and just one goal conceded.

Whether or not he is still a contender for Player of the Month is for you to decide but as a re-cap here are the Total Tranmere Man of the Match Awards for January games (Match Reporter in brackets).....

1st Jan - Crewe (A) Lost 4-3 = Paul McLaren (Mark Ridgway)

5th Jan - Hereford Utd (H) Drew 2-2 = Steve Jennings (Mark Ridgway)

8th Jan - Leyton Orient (A) Lost 3-0 = No MOTM Awarded.

11th Jan - Bristol Rovers (H) Lost 2-0 = No Match Report

16th Jan - Hereford Utd (A) Lost 1-0 = No Match Report

19th Jan - Millwall (A) Won 1-0 = Danny Coyne (Mark Ridgway)

26th Jan - Yeovil Town (H) Won 2-1 = Steve Jennings (Mark Ridgway)

29th Jan - Gillingham (H) Won 2-0 = Calvin Zola (Mark Ridgway)

In spite of the defeats at the start of the month Rovers played well in most of the games bar Bristol Rovers at home and there are a number of contenders for Player of the Month.

The ever excellent Paul McLaren and Steve Jennings have to be contenders from central midfield but Danny Coyne in goal and striker Calvin Zola must also be in with a chance along with new permanent signing Andy Taylor from Blackburn Rovers.

The poll can be found on the site at the bottom of every page you view so get voting now and we will bring you the results in two weeks.

The results of our most recent site poll in which we asked where you thought Rovers would finish the season were as follows......

Question: Where Will Rovers Finish This Season......

Automatic Places1.56%
Play Offs29.69%
7th to 12th45.31%
13th to 20th12.50%
Relegation Places10.94%

Understandably the majority of votes were most likely cast in the spell just around the time when Rovers form turned in the month and is perhaps more on the negative side with almost 70% feeling that Rovers will not make the play-offs this season.

However as Rovers' form appears to be on the turn at the moment, we will run this poll again in March and see what the results are then.

I voted for Myrie-Williams. The lad has surpassed my expectations by consistently improving and I think he had a superb month

I've gone for Coyne as he has played extremely well this month as every month! Though i think Stockdale, Jenno and Zola all played well... Coynes performance at Millwall gives him my vote!

Don't all faint at once but I'm going for Zola!

He hasn't been fully consistent but he has weighed in with important goals and contributions that have been vital later on in January!

Well done Calvin!

I think it shows just how good a month we've had (the second half of it mainly but also we played well and lost earlier in the month) by how many players are being nominated

Stockdale is my favourite Rovers player. A very solid performer who always gives his all and he's a superb lad.

I agree with your assesment of him. I have never understood his critics to be honest. I would have faith in him a league higher. He coped very well last season with a wayward Shuker who wuld wonder up the field never to return. He is getting on the over-lap more now too which is good. WHEN IS HIS GOAL COMING?

He was at the reserve game today and I was desperate to speak to him. Not only just to meet him [again] but also to tell him about the bet and ask him to score this season!

i've always liked him though against certain players his lack of pace worries me, though he usually compensates well.
It's one of only a few positions that aren't under threat an you know who will be there an what you'll get every week.
