All the News and Statistics ahead of Rovers visit to Millwall on Saturday afternoon in Coca-Cola League One as Rovers look to restore some pride for the remainder of the season after an inconsistent run of results.

It’s destination London for the third and final time this season for the Superwhite Army as they travel to face Millwall in the penultimate away game of the season on Saturday afternoon.

 

Whilst the play-offs are still mathematically possible, the majority of Rovers fans believe that their team are simply playing out the season to its close and with Millwall in a similar position, the game is a matter of pride for both sides.

 

When the two teams met earlier in the season at Prenton Park, Rovers took the three points thanks to a 3-1 win with goals from Gareth Taylor, Chris McCready and Chris Shuker and a consolation for Hackett for the visitors.

 

Since that game though the form table has been somewhat reversed as Millwall are now the in-form team and it’s Rovers who have been struggling of late.

 

Millwall go into this game on the back of three straight wins and have won four of their last five games whereas Rovers have won just two of their last six games (with four defeats) and have the same record on the road.

 

A boost for Rovers is the injury that will rule out Lions striker Darren Byfield who has a habit of scoring against Rovers no matter who he is playing for whilst Rovers striker Chris Greenacre will be looking to celebrate signing a new two-year contract on Friday by reaching the 20 goal mark for the season as he currently stands at 19.

 

The last time Rovers visited The New Den was in the Quarter Final of the FA Cup in March 2004 where a John Achterberg penalty save earned Rovers a 0-0 draw and replay at Prenton Park which they eventually lost 2-1.

Millwall

 

The Lions are without strikers Darren Byfield and Tom Brighton (both ankle) and defender Zak Whitbread (pelvis) is also absent.

 

Midfielder Marvin Elliott could start after recovering from a recent back injury.

 

 

Tranmere Rovers

 

Tranmere will be without suspended midfield pair John Mullin and Jason McAteer who both serve out the second game of a three match ban.  Paul McLaren and Danny Harrison are likely to start again in the centre of midfield.

 

Goalkeeper John Achterberg is still out with a knee injury that may last for the rest of the season.
