When the sides met last season, Rovers took maximum points from the two games, scoring six goals in the process. In the early season meeting at Saltergate, goals from Mike Jackson and a bullet of a free-kick from Gareth Roberts sealed and excellent 2-0 win for Rovers, their first away win of the season.
When the sides met again at Prenton Park earlier this year, Rovers fell behind to a stunning strike from on loan Jamie O’Hara but it wasn’t long before a rare brace from Sam Aiston and a goal from Chris Greenacre put Rovers in the driving seat. A fourth goal from on loan Steven O’Leary made the scoreline comfortable for Rovers in a 4-1 win.
Apart from last season’s victory though, Rovers track record at Saltergate is not too encouraging having only won six times in 45 meetings (losing 28 and drawing 11). Their overall record both home and away against the Spireites is not much better either.
Latest Team News
