Takeover Imminent

It’s been dragging on for over a month, but it seems a take-over at Leeds United is imminent with confirmation expected soon.

When news first started to break at the end of May that there was a take-over in the offing at Elland Road it seemed too good to be true.  The main source seemed to be Twitter, the Social Networking beast that so far has killed Kanye West, Morgan Freeman and Will Smith.  Rumours were downplayed until the first official confirmation from the club that it was in talks about ‘long term investment’.

Based on where you get your information, Leeds United is about to be bought by a French Billionaire, or a Middle Eastern Sheik, or a Canadian Group, or American Sports Giants ‘AEG’, or a Texas based group of businessmen,  or numerous others.

And of course it is not just a takeover, it might just be investment, or buying Elland Road, or a new Sponsorship Deal, Or a take-over but Ken Bates is staying on – the list goes on.

The end result, no-one really knows – although several hundred people lay claim to the fact that they know someone who works at the club, or know someone who knows someone who works at the club, or knows someone who knows someone who knows someone etc. etc.  (repeat until tedious).  Or indeed, they might know a street vender selling hot-dogs who is in the know!

The deal announced on the official site with the Compass Group has led to increased speculation that ‘AEG’ could be the surprise front runners in the deal.  The American based group have several UK sports teams but are probably best known as the owners of LA Galaxy and it would be a good fit to get them into English Football – but then again, the Dubai connection keeps cropping up (refer above to ‘no-one actually knows).

It would seem though that whoever it is and whatever it is, it is getting very close, with an announcement possibly coming as early as today, but equally,  possibly not!  The rumour from trusted sources is that the deal is done, the papers are signed and it is just a matter of the money transfer – we just have our fingers crossed this isn’t being done via Natwest at the moment!

Follow us at Twitter @ulufc where we will bring you the news as soon as it breaks – which might be later today – but erm... it might not!

To be fair, the lad on twitter sells gourmet hot dogs, not just any old cr@p.

Not long to wait now but it's looking increasingly like Arab money.

Must be true then.

If the "official mediators" LUST say so???

How would they know?

Is the buyer running everything past LUST first?

Chill out mate and try and enjoy it,lust have said they had no involvement in the negotiations.
But if it is one of the parties they spoke to before then they have played some part.
