Bradley Johnson linked to WBA

By Andy Baggott
May 16 2011

WBA are the latest club to be linked with Leeds' Bradley Johnson.  The midfielder is out of ocntract in the summer, and can move on a free, unless Leeds agree a deal.

Johnson was transfer listed in January after failing to agree a new deal, and although Leeds planned talks with his agent this week, it's likely that he will move on.  He was much improved in the last couple of months of the season following a fairly poor last 18 months.  Leeds owner Ken Bates spoke last week about possibly extending his contract, but WBA, who have had a fantastic season under Roy Hodgson, seem ready to strike..

Well thats ok as long as he now recognises that the original offer was a good one and that he is lucky to play for Leeds.

If the rumours are true that he was offered £3k a week, I'd wanna fk off...

I dont think so Vic there are players in the conference getting that. .....however £3K a week £12K a month, £142K a year....is it that bad. I dont think he will have any problems buying a house and paying for his beano every week on that.

Was thinking of backing WBA on the Premier league season handicap (seeing that RH has really turned em around) for next year but with investments like this i will think again for sure

It's all about what you do with the WHITE FLAG. Do you keep it flying high? Or wave it frantically at the first sign of trouble?

142k a year is unreal for most people, but he said he wanted to be considered in the same group as the rest, which for me he deserves!

He might not have the flair of snoddy n gradel or the pace even, but his strength in the middle is something we miss when he doesnt play!

Get him a better contract on the table!!

Yes I can see that. Its all very subjective personal opinion. I just think he is a very ordinary player who should be massively grateful that he has had the honour of playing for Leeds United and been offered a new contract.

I heard he was complaining when Robinson was in the reserves but on 3 times as much of a wage. He sorta had a point there...

Vitalfootball and a couple of other sites saying BJ's done a U turn and is about to sign. Not sure how valid these stories are though.

If that is all he was offered i don't blame him for leaving. I think even by championship standards that is a derisory sum. yeah if every other bod was getting 3k fair enough..but they're not are they. If i was you Bradley i'd go..think of yourself and financial future.

also the likelihood that LUFC will show any ambition in the close season in terms of signings is remote.

Hahaha.....I saw someones post who had said much the same as I wanted to say regarding Johnson....thought I'd copy paste it to save time, then realised it was my lad...

so I say the same as Sam...we missed Johnsons strength when he wasn't there, and noticed it when he canme back......I didn't believe he deserved any better than he was on when the whole contract thing raised his head, but I've changed my mind having spent a bit of time concentrating on what he brings to the game...

...but he really does need some practice with the ball at his feet.

He does seem to be only good for short spells in the season ive noticed. However this season after all the booing started he started working hard for us, not the most technically gifted but does have good strength and a powerful left foot which i think we might miss if he does go.

my verdict: give him a new contract. But give nowt to kilkenny

Think peeps will find that BJ is currently on £3k per week and the deal on the table was for £5k per week + signing on fee. With bonuses it would probably take him onto close to £8/£9k per week.

For the Championship that is a massive deal. average pay in this division is half of that figure.

However, ANY prem club can easily offer him more than double this. (JB's deal works out in excess of £28k per week - basis, signing on fee, bonuses)

It is just a question of IF any prem club really wants him.

Apparrantly he is thinking of changing his name from Bradley to Radley. He cant stand being called BJ anymore.
