Ken Bates buys Leeds United!!

Leeds have this evening announced that Chairman Ken Bates has bought the football club!!! 

In a statement on the official website, it states that due to the media intrusion, Ken Bates has bought the club for an undisclosed fee from previous owners FSF.  Apparently, FSF is now owned by Outro Limited, which is wholly owned by Ken Bates!!!

The change in ownership structure now means that Bates is the controlling shareholder of Leeds United, and will deliver the transparency sought by media and fans.

There has been much speculation that Bates already owns/part owns the club, and this move will have done little to quash those rumours.  The Chairmans weekly radio broadcast should be interesting this week...

Right then - who owns the ground and training complex????

Forgetting the questions of will he invest in the team and will he buy back TA and ER for a moment. Can anyone tell me if we are in danger of getting a hammering off the tax man? Can we get in trouble with the FA? Can we get into trouble with the courts? Bates is a nob but he's normally savvy when it comes to business. Yesterday I was worrying if we were gonna get investment in players next season and now I'm worried that we might not have a club to invest in.

What will David "the" Conn man write about now for the Guardian?

No longer can he copy and paste. He may just have to put some effort into his writing!

As for others, this story will not gain the column inches or comments reserved when people "did not know" who ownded LUFC.

Perhaps we can now cast our eyes towards London and the sordid affair of QPR.

Make no bones about it, if the club involved lied to the FA/FL, made illegal payments to agents, fielded an illegible player and more, we would be cast out of the league itself and thrown into non league footie.

QPR? Surely a smack on the wrist will be an admission that the English FA treats southern clubs differently?

This is good news of sorts in that we now know officially who is pulling the purse strings (although we suspected it). Whether this is in the long term good news for LUFC will remain to be seen, but at least it should close the door on all the anti-Leeds media luvvies.

No this just mean that when he sells the club in the up coming 6 months he now is allowed to gain 100% of the sale.
