Leeds 2 Swansea 1 - report

Becchio scores

Leeds showed some fighting qualities to come back from a goal down to win at Elland road on Saturday, The home side made a strong start and were the better team, without ever really rhreatening.  Roared on by a 26,000+ crowd, they took the game to Swansea at every opportunity.  It came as some suprise then, when the visitors took the lead against the run of play.  A long ball down field was missed by Naylor, and Dobbie ran on to score past keeper Shane Higgs.  The man between the sticks was only there as regular keeper Kasper Schmeicel was ruled out with an ankle injury.  The goal turned the match around, and it was now Swansea in the ascendency.  Higgs twice was forced into smart saves, when a goal could have taken the match away from Leeds.  The men in white struggled to get a foothold in the game as Swansea's crisp passing expoited holes in the Leeds defence.  The nearest Graysons men came was a Bradley Johnson long range shot that struck the bar (the eigth time Leeds have struck the woodwork this season - more than any other side).
Half time was welcomed by the hosts, and they came out a different saide after the break.  The tempo was upped, and they took advantage of their superior strength, and tried to bully the Swans.  The game got a bit more scrappy, which suited Leeds, and the pressure told.  Gradels cross was headed by Naylor - the keeper saved, but Johnson drove the ball home from 8 yards.  A winner came not long after - Gradel casuing havoc down the left, and his cross led to shots reigning in from Howson and Kilkenny - before the ball eventually fell to Becchio 2 yards out to side foot home.
That was it really in terms of chances - not the greatest game, and Leeds maybe a little lucky to come away with all 3 points, but the victory was celebrated non the less and 6th place in the table maintained.
