Leeds United made in back to back victories as the beat Darlington 1-0 to progress to the second round of the League cup. Leeds were without striker, Jermaine Beckford who apprently piked up a knock on Saturday, but his absence will prompt more speculation that he could be set to leave the club, despite the protests from Grayson that it wasn't the case.
Leeds failed to ignite in the first half and except for one spectacular strike from Doyle, it was Darlington that looked the more likely to score but it remained goalless.
Into the second half and Leeds came to life with chances for Howson and Johnson but it fell to Showumni, who worked hard all night to poke a toe onto a high cross into the box from Snodgras and take the lead.
Darlington had a few chances but Leeds looked in control and finished the match the superior side.
