HENRY COMMITS FUTURE TO CLUB

The 15 year old turned down a number of Premiership clubs in order to commit his future to the club. He'll be eligible to sign full time after he takes his GCSE exams this summer.

Henry joined the club at the age of 9 and has progressed through the ranks. He's been a regular this season for the Under 16's and has scored 13 goals. As a reward, he's been promoted to the Under 18's and recently opened up his account with a 25 yard free kick curler.

The 15 year old spoke of his joy at staying at Reading and said;

"I was flattered to be of interest to Premiership clubs but my desire to play for Reading at the Madejski in front of my own hometown fans is what I have always wanted, so when the offer of the opportunity to try achieve this was given to me I could not turn it down."

"I look forward to starting with the Club full-time in July and hope to make a good impression so I can continue to progress at Reading and fulfil my ambitions with the Club."

Reading supporters though will have doubts about if Henry can make the grade. The club hasn't given kids the chance they deserve to progress in recent years and many have "slipped" the net.

It was only yesterday that Nathan Tyson scored a hat trick for Wycombe Wanderers as they beat Lincoln 3-2. Darius Henderson was another player who scored yesterday as Gillingham won 3-1 at Rotherham United.
