Kitson commits future to the club

Reading striker Dave Kitson has provided Reading with a much needed boost by committing himself to the club until June 2008.The former Cambridge United frontman has impressed greatly since his switch and will be looking to continue his good form at Crewe Alexandra tomorrow.

Reading striker Dave Kitson has provided Reading with a much needed boost by committing himself to the club until June 2008.

The former Cambridge United front man has impressed greatly since moving from the Abbey Stadium in January 2004 and has been rewarded with an extended contract.

Kitson's original deal was due to expire at the end of next season and was linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium in the January transfer window.

It comes at a crucial time of the season because the Royals haven't won a league game since Boxing Day. They also slipped out of the Playoff spots on Tuesday which led to Steve Coppell admitting there were "hidden agenda's" at the club.

Kitson himself only returned to the starting line-up on Saturday after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury.

But Kitson will start tomorrow's match at Crewe Alexandra, with his likely partner to be Nicky Forster after Les Ferdinand was ruled out of the trip to Gresty Road with a groin injury.
