SAVAGE JOINS THE SHAKERS

Savage has failed to make an impact at Reading since arriving in 2001 and has had a similar loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers earlier this season where he linked up with former Royals stars in Nathan Tyson and Frank Talia.

His Reading career couldn't have got to a better start after he made his debut in the promotion clinching game at Brentford in April 2002. He will be remembered that day for his dancing skills on the pitch in the celebration that followed that amazing day.

But as the Royals were getting ready for the Division 1 season, Bas suffered an unfortunate cruciate knee ligament injury in a pre season friendly in Germany and missed the entire season.

But last season with Steve Coppell taking over the reigns from Alan Pardew, Bas got his chance and did a job for the Royals not only as a striker but as a right winger as well.

Despite being out of contract at the end of the season last year, he signed a new 1 year deal. However it's expected he will be leaving Reading this summer after not making a single appearance for the first team.

Bas goes straight into the Shakers squad for tomorrow's clash with Boston United, and takes the shirt number 9.

Bury Manager Graham Barrow said on Bas;

"Kelham O'Hanlon went to watch Reading reserves on Wednesday at Cheltenham, with a view to watching Bas, and liked what he saw.

"I've spoken to Steve Coppell about him and Kel knows Kevin Dillon, the assistant manager at Reading, very well.

"He is a big lad and he will come here and do the job for us if he is up for it."
