HAHNEMANN GETS CALL UP

Hahnemann hasn't featured for the US since going to France for the Confederations Cup in 2003. He currently has 4 caps.

He'll be going up against his former team mate Anthony Rougier, who now plays his trade in South Korea and also against a Royals goalkeeping legend Shaka Hislop. 

Meanwhile, his fellow compatriot Bobby Convey has been put on stand-by for the squad, but hasn't travelled to the States. Convey will be looking for a start birth at Leeds United this Saturday after his Royals team mates have let the supporters and management staff down in recent weeks after going 6 league games without a win.

It comes has no surprise that Hahnemann has received the call up after the US Manager Bruce Arena paid a visit to the UK before Christmas to check up on all his players based in the country. These include Claudio Reyna of Manchester City, Carlos Bocanegra and Brian McBride of Fulham and his best mate Eddie Lewis of Preston North End.

Another deciding factor has been the immediate retirement of Brad Friedel from the US squad. The Blackburn Rovers goalie has had an illustrious career for the national side, and leaves with plenty good goalkeeper's fighting for his spot.

Hahnemann will have to compete with former Leicester and Spurs goalie Kasey Keller, and also Manchester United's Tim Howard.

Hahnemann is expected to start Saturday's match at Leeds United in the Coca Cola Championship.
