Save Our Stripes Update

Tuesday 20th April 2004

Hi All

We think we have sorted out the problems in the newsletter script which meant that some people didn't get anything due to a time out on the server. Some people got the newsletter, some got a blank email, some got both. Lucky sods.

I'm very grateful to everyone who has helped get Save Our Stripes from an idea into a viable working campaign this season, from those who helped start the website, coded it up and got it on line, to those who have helped with graphics, jpgs and those who have helped "spread the word" via their own clubs' websites and message boards etc. I won't name everyone, but you know who you are and I'm delighted that people have cared enough to help out.

Things are winding down for this season and there will be nothing major planned until the new season begins in August.

In the meantime, there is a PowerPoint presentation that can be viewed via the files section of the site. At the moment you can view it online, but not yet download it for distribution, but that is coming.

Please have a look and tell everyone else to do likewise.

Lastly, next season will be the last before the new ruling is adopted by the Premier League. By then we'll have new allies in the Division with the Baggies surely rejoining the league, and possibly the Mackems via the play offs. Sadly the Royals have fallen away but Sheffield United could still make the play offs. The more stripeys, the merrier we'll be and the stronger the campaign can get.

Sadly we haven't properly broken the 1100 barrier as a lot of folks duplicated their emails or put bogus accounts on, which have all been removed.

Next season, I'm sure there will be more support because the clubs themselves will be looking at their new kits and when the designs are shown, the doubters will hopefully join us.

The Independent Football Commission are not in a position to help us, emails sent to Soccer AM have been ignored, and I'm still waiting to see if Four Four Two magazine will publish my letter which I sent some weeks ago.

Best wishes to all, and thanks again for your support

Rich Harper.

How Can We Help?

Log on to our website www.saveourstripes.org.uk and register. Please use a valid email address. We will occasionally send you a newsletter on our progress. That’s all you have to do. We’ll try and do the rest.

Please NOTE: Though the Premier League are behind this campaign to have hoops and stripes, the Football League support it. Also, clubs who wear hoops such as Reading FC, QPR, Doncaster Rovers, Yeovil ARE affected by this as well.

1871royals.co.uk are fully against the idea of the Premier League's plans and would like to give their full backing in the 'Save Our Stripes' campaign.
