Forest 0-6 AS Airdrie

Airdrie picked up 3 more points on the Road at John Browns, Clydebank, as Ally Grays hat trick sent us on our way to a 6-0 win over Forest. Several changes again for this one for a variety of reasons, Out went Hetherington, Brady, Slevin who were absent Scott Graham and Shaw who didn’t arrive till kick off, In came Ross Graham, Smith, Kenny Pardoe, Capaldi and Edgar. Airdrie laid siege to the Forest goal from the off and should have been in front early on when Gray was hauled down in the box but the normally reliable right foot of Kenny Pardoe missed the target sending his shot wide of the keepers left hand post, a combination of dogged defending good goal keeping and a very heavy bobbly pitch saw Airdrie pass up chance after chance. Finally great endeavor from Gray was rewarded when the keeper spilled a Scott Lindsay shot Gray was first to react, held off the challenge and squeezed the ball past the keeper for the only goal of the half. Patience was the word at the break however Gray was having none of it and scored a second on 50 minutes as he gathered the ball inside the box neatly turned his marker and rifled a shot into the top corner. Shaw replaced K.Pardoe at this point however it was Gray who added a third pretty similar to his second goal firing home from just inside the area. Capaldi got in on the act soon after as the ball broke kindly for him in the area and he was left with just the keeper to beat and took the chance well. Hat trick hero Gray was then replaced by Scott Graham for the last 15 minutes or so with Capaldi given an opportunity to lead the line for the first time this season. Capaldi got a second soon after as Ross Graham fired in a free kick which deflected to Capaldi who smartly tucked it past the keeper in a crowded box. Shaw rounded off the scoring with a solo effort going past a few challenges before firing across the keeper from 15 yards to find the bottom corner. Scott Graham had a wee chance at the death but the ball came too quickly and the keeper saved from point blank range. A good effort on a heavy pitch Airdrie got a little frustrated with themselves but once Gray had scored the second the football begun to flow (as well as it could given the conditions) Credit to Forest who never gave up and plugged away for the full 90 minutes.

Man of the Match was that man Gray with a well-deserved hat trick.
