Blochairn Star 4-2 AS Airdrie

Airdrie suffered the third loss of the campaign at Glenconner on saturday. Airdrie were missing Edgar,Capladi,Clark,Ross Graham,Stewart,Burton and Smith. With top scorer Kenny Pardoe struggling with a strain Marc Johnston was brought out of retirement to make up a squad of 13.

Airdrie started brightly and took an early lead as Rowan's kick out was gathered by Gray who played in Shaw who fired a shot  into the far corner for a 1-0 lead. Two poorly defended set pieces saw Blochairn turn the game around before half time as Firstly a corner kick led to a game of head tennis which eventually was won by Roan as he stooped to nod the final header across the line. This was quickly followed by a soft free kick which was floated to the back post where campbell had time and space to plant a header back across goal and into the bottom corner.

The second half was minutes old before Blochairn took a commanding lead, a long through ball found Elliot who smartly spotted Rowan off his line and lofted a chip shot over the keepers head. Airdrie then had a fine 20 minute spell pressing Blochairn and creating a few half chances as the sought a route back into the game. Injury forced off Scott Graham and Johnstone made his first appearance since April 2005. Soon after Slevin was also added to the injury list and Kenny Pardoe joined the fray to do what he could. Blochairn killed the game with a fourth as the game became stretched Murray went on a fine solo run and fired across goal, Johnston had to play the ball as a Star player lurked at the back post for an easy tap in, but could only divert into the net. Airdrie plugged away for the closing stages and Gray stole the ball from Marshall in his own area and found Shaw who laid off for Lindsay to fire in a second Goal.

A dissapointing result dashes the hopes of pressing leaders Greenhills before the winter break, Hopefully the weather allows us a few more games before the break to try and put some points on the board.

MOM; Jamie McCall - In only his second start Jamie had a fine game at full back tackled well and backed up his midfield.
