Shawbridge 2-2 AS Airdrie

A couple of changes from last weeks defeat saw Capaldi and Smith return with Ross & Scott Graham taking a place on the bench, Stewart and brown also returned to give us a full compliment beside Brady.

Airdrie began well knocking the ball around on a nice tidy surface at Hamilton Palace. In the tenth minute they took the lead when Scott’s through ball was collected by Lindsay on the edge of the box and he slipped a nice reverse pass into the on rushing smith’s path who rounded the keeper and tucked the ball away. A well-contested game reached the half waypoint with no further goals. In the second half Shawbridge came out the traps the quicker and 12 minutes into the half danger man scally was afforded too much time and space in the box and he fired a low shot past Rowan. On 70 minutes Airdrie regained the lead, from a quick throw in Kenny Pardoe found time to play a defence splitting pass for Gray to latch on to and his low shot across the keeper found the bottom corner. Stewart and Brady replaced Cooper and K.Pardoe shortly after as Airdrie looked to close the game out, with 5 minutes left Ross Graham replaced Lindsay who had taken a slight knock. With the game moving towards stoppage time Shawbridge were awarded a free kick, with eighteen bodies in the box Scott inexplicably punched the ball gifting Scally a chance from the spot, which he duly took, to give Shaw’s a share of the points. A well contested game gets both sides off the mark with a point, However Airdrie feel having got in front they should have taken all three points. Next week see’s yet another tough encounter with St Mary’s being the opponents.
