All the local hype swelled the crowd to 14,657 aided by a good contingent from Kenilworth Road, but they witnessed the end of the Bluebirds unbeaten run. A well organised side from Luton deserved their win, although a draw could have been grabbed at the end if Michael Ricketts had found the net..

After taking an early lead through Michael Ricketts, a goal which many fans would have missed due to massive queues at the ticket office, the Bluebirds played second fiddle to Luton Town who played the better football and deservedly equalised after springing through the home sides offside trap. The visitors were stronger in midfield and grabbed the winner after a spell of pressure in the second half.

Cardiff's man of the match was Neil Alexander which speaks volumes! It was an entertaining game in parts with the woodwork rattled at both ends, but it was a game which exposed Cardiff's frailties and highlighted that in recent home matches we've had the luck, there was no luck on offer today!

How many of the "new" fans will return once the nights draw in is anybody's guess but Sam and his colleagues would have been pleased to get well over the 13,000 break even figure especially as there is a good while until the next home game against Preston North End...
