A strong Cardiff City XI put in an impressive display to beat a revolutionised Llanelli outfit in West Wales. Goals from Andrew Campbell and Toni Koskela secured a pre-season win for Paul Wilkinson's second-string. New Page 5

Playing against a strong Llanelli side, Paul Wilkinson enjoyed the luxury of fielding a strong Cardiff City XI at Stebonheath Park for the second string's final pre-season friendly. The Bluebirds were too good for their Welsh Premier counterparts, a team who look set to turn professional and have signed a squad of impressive players under the leadership of Spanish director of football Lucas Cazorla Luque.

Goals from out-of-favour Andy Campbell and Scandinavian midfielder Toni Koskela were enough for City to win in West Wales, as a number of other first-team players got back into action. Martyn Margetson kept a clean sheet between the sticks, whilst Joe Ledley played 45 minutes.

The reserves have enjoyed a successful pre-season having registered victories at Team Bath, Chippenham Town, Haverfordwest County and Pontypridd Town and a draw at Merthyr Tydfil. Next Tuesday they face Luton Town in the final of last season's regional reserve league tournament before the league campaign gets underway against enemies Swansea City on August 24th.
