Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has thrown superlatives at Jason Koumas after the Welsh international marked his Bluebirds debut with a stunning solo strike. The introduction of the attacking midfielder on the hour-mark swung the game against Leeds United in City's favour.

Bluebirds boss Dave Jones lavished praise on debutant Jason Koumas after an electric performance as substitute turned Cardiff City's Football League Championship clash with Leeds United on its head.

The Welsh international was introduced just before the hour-mark and found the net with almost his first Bluebirds touch to restore parity before a Darren Purse edged the hosts in front.

"He still has a long way to go to get fully fit and he has done everything asked of him since being at this club. He wanted to play today and he has shown us what he can do." commented Jones, who is already taking the plaudits from supporters after only two games in charge.

Jones went onto praise the team on a victory he felt was thoroughly deserved.

"I'm not relieved with the result because I thought we were the better team," added the former Wolves boss. "We had made one mistake in the first half and it cost us a goal but we kept pegging away and everyone did the jobs we asked of them even though Jason Koumas will probably get the headlines."

Koumas will be hoping to start Friday's game against Watford, with the Hornets coming to Ninian Park where they will come face-to-face with former defenders Neil Cox and Jermaine Darlington with former assistant boss Terry Burton now in the Bluebirds dug-out.
