Bangor City will entertain the Bluebirds in the quarter-finals of the F.A.W Premier Cup. Cardiff City are likely to send a second string to Farrar Road on January 25th for the clash.

Cardiff City face a trip to North Wales in the quarter-finals of the F.A.W Premier Cup. The Bluebirds visit Farrar Road to face Bangor City, one of the bigger names in the Welsh Premier, in a tie that is sure to excite the locals.

The F.A.W Premier Cup launched a new format this season, with the group stage abolished for the first time. The 3 Football League clubs and Welsh Premier winners Rhyl joined four qualifiers from earlier rounds. It was hoped that the new format would lease new life into the much-criticised competition, but the Premier Cup is still failing to grab the headlines.

The tie of the round is at Treflan, where Welsh Premier champions Rhyl face the team many are already calling the champions elect. Total Network Solutions are well out clear in Wales' top flight, and will start as favourites as they entertain the Lilywhites who completed an incredible quadruple of trophies last season. Meanwhile, Wrexham face Haverfordwest County in front of the BBC cameras whilst the Jacks travel to Caernarfon.

City's trip to Bangor takes place on January 25th. Bluebirds boss Lennie Lawrence is likely to field a mixture of reserve and youth players, resting the bigger names for Football League action. This decision has meant City have won the BBC-backed tournament just once and continue to miss out on the £100,000 winners cheque. Wrexham are the current holders.
