Daniel Gabbidon has been linked with a move to Newcastle United. It is not the firstr time the Cardiff City centre-half has been rumoured to be on his way to St.James’ Park, but Graeme Souness is believed to be serious about offering a bid to the Bluebirds. Newcastle United have once again been linked with a move for Bluebirds defender Daniel Gabbidon. New manager Graeme Souness is said to be a big fan of the Welsh international and could launch a bid during the January transfer window to bring the centre-half to the North East.

The Magpies have been linked with a swoop for Gabbs in the past, but this latest link is said to be more serious with Souness believed to be inquiring about the availability of the player.

Newcastle have been lacking at the back this season since the departure of Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid during pre-season. Souness has looked at Rangers' Jean-Alain Boumsong and Birmingham's Matthew Upson, but sees Gabbidon as a potential replacement for the England international whom he could sign for a moderate fee due to the dyer financial state of Cardiff City.

25-year-old Gabbidon has been subject to mountains of rumours and media speculation in the past few years. Blackburn Rovers are said to be monitoring his progress closely, with Mark Hughes well informed about Gabbidon due to his years as Wales boss. It could get interesting come January…
