The Bluebirds won their first game in eight with a comprehensive 4-1 stuffing of Milton Keynes Dons in the second round of the League Cup. A brace from Peter Thorne and strikes from midfielder Lee Bullock and impressive youngster Byron Anthony sealed victory. Oh how The City needed this. A little pressure was taken away from Lennie Lawrence following a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Milton Keynes Dons in the second round of the Carling-sponsored League Cup.

A brace from Peter Thorne and goals from Lee Bullock and youngster Byron Anthony were more than enough to see of a very poor Dons side, who could well be heading for a second consecutive relegation after a poor start to the new campaign. Izale McLeod's striker was merely consolation for the hosts, who had already been reduced to 10-men to cap off a woeful night.
