The Cardiff City reserves kicked-off their season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Ninian Park. The visitors enjoyed a lion share of possession but struggled to turn dominance into goals and can count themselves unlucky as they head back home to Devon.

The Bluebirds opened the scoring in the first minute courtesy of a strike from Jonathan Kift and the advantage was doubled early-on in the second-half through Stuart Fleetwood. The young striker scored from the penalty spot twice, with the kick having to be re-taken due to encroachment, which was ironic as Fleetwood had to re-take a spot-kick earlier in the week during the League Cup tie at Aggborough.

The most impressive part of this victory was the defensive display with Parslow and Anthony excellent in the centre-half positions. Under the leadership of Paul Wilkinson, this reserve side looks to have the capabilities of producing some real first-team talent with Cameron Jerome another player who deserves a special mention for his performance against the Pilgrims.
