Bluebirds duo Gary Croft and Martyn Margetson have both signed new contracts, ending speculation that the pair would leave the club over the summer. Margetson had looked set to join arch-rivals Swansea City, but has now signed a new deal after being offered better terms by Lennie Lawrence.

Gary Croft and Martyn Margetson have both signed new contracts at Ninian Park, finally ending speculation that the duo would depart the club over the summer. Fans will be delighted at the news that the experienced pairs will be City players next term after many supporters voiced anger at Lennie Lawrence stalling to offer new deals.

Croft had refused to deny in recent weeks that he would leave the club, and a string of Football League clubs were thought to be lining up deals to offer the versatile defender. However, the 30-year-old has now penned a one-year contract with the club which means he is almost certain to be with the club until at least the end of the 2004/2005 season.

Arch-rivals Swansea City made no secret of the fact they had offered a 3-year contract to 'keeper Martyn Margetson, and the former Huddersfield Town shot stopper looked set to depart to the Jacks after angrily turning down a reduced-pay one-season contract offered to him by Lennie Lawrence. However, the veteran Welsh international was later offered a 2-year deal by the club and he has decided to stay.
