Cardiff City defender Tony Vidmar has extended his contract at Ninian Park by a further 12 months.

The veteran has settled in well since joining the Bluebirds from Middlesbrough on a free transfer during the summer, and has formed an impressive partnership at the heart of the City defence with Daniel Gabbidon.

The Australian international has been rewarded for his performances with a contract extension, that will see him stay a City player until at least the end of the 2004/2005 season.

"Tony has done extremely well for us this season and his ability and experience are a valuable asset to the side." said City boss Lennie Lawrence, on the news of Vidmar's contract extension.

"The extension reflects how highly we rate him and also shows our commitment to keep our best players."
