Blackburn Rovers must be about the 3000th club that have been 'linked' with interest in Earnshaw, but the club has not publicised a bid from any other club since the Welsh international came so close to joining Scottish Football League outfit Greenock Morton for pennies under Frank Burrows!

Since then, Earnshaw has established himself as a first-team regular at Ninian Park, breaking the clubs record goal scorer for a season, and is now making regular appearances in Mark Hughes' Wales squad. The 22-year-old has gone from almost leaving Ninian Park for bottom flight Scottish football, to attracting interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs.

This rumour is likely to go no further, although should it be offered to the board at City it would be very hard to decline. No offers can be made by Premiership clubs until the transfer window opens in January, but there is undoubtedly going to be interest from the top flight if Earnshaw keeps up his free scoring form that has seen him net 14 First Division goals, with only 17 league games gone.
