| After losing to rivals Bristol City
last week, there was more disappointment for the City reserves today, as
arch-rivals Swansea City came away from Ninian Park with a 2-1 victory in
the Reserve League Cup. Corbislero and Pritchard were on target for the Jacks, with Gavin Gordon's second half header providing only consolation for the Bluebirds. Gary Croft made a quiet comeback for City, and it is clear he will need a few more second string matches before being ready to return to first-team action. Arran Lee-Barrett, Spencer Prior, Layton Maxwell and Gavin Gordon were the only other senior squad players in the side today. Stuart Fleetwood was also in action, but he did little to entertain the crowd, leaving many doubting the hype surrounding the youngster. Barrett had a rather quiet game between the sticks. Prior came off with a slight knock with 20 minutes to go. Scouse midfielder Layton Maxwell showed a few promising moments, and may find himself in the squad for City's league game with Gillingham, with Gavin Gordon getting himself on the scoresheet with a neat header. A crowd of approximately 300 was in attendance, with
a surprising away following of about 30 from our South Wales rivals! Cardiff City: Barrett, Croft, Huggins, Prior,
Anthony, Maxwell, Fish, Taylor, Hayward, Fleetwood, Gordon. Full Time - Cardiff City Reserves 1-2 Swansea City Reserves |
