Former Cardiff City striker Leo Fortune-West has joined
newly-promoted Doncaster Rovers on a two year contract.
Fortune-West was released by the Bluebirds last month, after three years service at Ninian Park. Leo, who developed a sort of cult status with many City supporters, made 92 league appearances for City, since his move from Rotherham United for £300,000. He scored 23 league goals as a Bluebird, and is forward partnership with Paul Brayson and Robert Earnshaw in the 2000/2001 helped City to promotion. Leo's new club Doncaster made history by becoming the first club to win the Conference play-offs. After a penalty shoot-out victory over Chester City in the semi-finals, they went on to beat Dagenham & Redbridge in the final, winning on the golden goal rule. The victory secured their return to the Football League, after a five year absence. Leo's manager at Donny will be former City player Dave Penney. Best of luck to Leo at Belle Vue. |
