Zhiyi out for Season

City defensive midfielder, Fan Zhiyi is unlikely to be fit to play another game for the Bluebirds this season after injuring his ankle ligaments in a recent reserve fixture.

The Chinese International, who has made 107 appearances for his country joined the Bluebirds in a much publicised move last November, but the deal has seemed doomed from the start.

After a quiet debut against AFC Bournemouth in the LDV Vans Trophy, Zhiyi was awarded the Man of the Match Award during City's 2-0 defeat at the hands of rivals, Bristol City at Ninian Park, whether he deserved the award was another matter! In City's following game away at Colchester, Zhiyi was shown the red card for fighting!

Since then, Fan Zhiyi has made 5 more appearances for the Bluebirds, but it was recently rumoured that he would become Fan ZhiBYE as the club were in negotiations to terminate his contract. Full Story.

It seems as if this injury will be the final chapter in Fan's disappointing and short lived time as a Bluebird.
