Manchester United star, Luke Chadwick is one of four players Lennie Lawrence is looking to bring to Ninian Park. Chadwick is desperate for some regular first team football and a loan deal to Cardiff City could be an ideal option for the former England Under-21 international.

The Manchester United star could join the City on loan and would certainly be an excellent acquisition should Lawrence tempt him with a temporary move to South Wales. The right-winger has made played 39 matches for the twice European Champions appearances including 6 Champions League appearances. The move for the former England Under-21 international is certainly ambitious but not unrealistic. Chadwick almost joined Wrexham on loan last season but the North Wales club couldn't afford his wages. Chadwick has also spent time on loan in Norway with Royal Antwerp. Chadwick did admit a couple of months ago that he was frustrated that he wasn't getting enough first team football at Old Trafford and did hint at leaving. A loan move to Cardiff could be an ideal option for the 22 year-old. Lawrence is desperate to strengthen the City squad and has confessed to also be chasing Andy Melville, Steve Jenkins and John Robinson as well as Chadwick. Welsh International, Andy Melville is currently at Fulham and admitted that he might be interested in a loan move to Cardiff during the week. Melville has over 50 Welsh caps to his name, and partnered Daniel Gabbidon at the centre of defence in Wales' recent fantastic 2-1 victory over Italy. Melville's contract expires at the end of the current season and it is not believed that the London club will be offering the veteran a new deal. Melville's experience would be a huge asset for Cardiff's defence. Steve Jenkins is the only player of the quartet that the Bluebirds may look to sign permanently at this moment in time. He's another Welsh International who is currently skipper of struggling Huddersfield Town. Town are in huge financial difficulties at the moment, and City may look to tempt the Yorkshire club to sell their captain with an offer which could ease their debt problems. John Robinson is yet another Welsh international (we seem to like buying these!) who recently retired from the international stage. Robinson has made just 10 Premiership appearances for Charlton this season, and may consider a temporary move to Ninian Park to get some regular first team football. Recent form has showed that perhaps the current squad isn't quite good enough to push for automatic promotion this season, but Lawrence is still desperate for the club to go up this year and signing any of the players linked above would be a huge boost to the team. |
