Newcastle United host Manchester City tomorrow lunchtime on the back of a recent dip in form. Pardew’s side have lost their last three games, won two and drawn one from their last six in all competitions, whilst City have won five and drawn just one.

Whilst Newcastle’s most recent game was a home defeat in the third round of the FA Cup against Cardiff, they will be hoping that the fact this game is at St James’ Park will work in their favour.

Newcastle will be without Fabricio Coloccini (knee) and Mathieu Debuchy who is suspended, but are expected to welcome back Yohan Cabaye (Achilles) and Tim Krul (shoulder).

Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero (calf) and Jack Rodwell (hamstring), but Steven Jovetic and Micah Richards are both expected to be available.

Yaya Toure (knock) is also expected to start, thought he is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini said ahead of the game;

"Of course it will be a real fight. Newcastle in the last two games have lost, but when they lost against Arsenal one or two weeks ago they were playing very well and they were fighting for the first position in the table.

In the FA Cup they lost at home against Cardiff but I am sure that playing at home they will be a very difficult team."

Fact: Newcastle have lost 12 of 14 Premier League games against Manchester City and drawn 2.

Fact: Loic Remy (23) is the only player to be caught offside more than 20 times this campaign.

Fact: Yaya Toure has scored five league goals in his last four against Newcastle, more than against any other Premier League club.

At the start of the match I was really worried about getting a hammering instead I've watched a good performance by Newcastle. And of course it could have all been very different if Tiote hadn't been robbed of a goal.

Well done Newcastle, you may not have won but you can hold your heads up high.

After the first ten minutes, we were very good. Obviously miffed at Tiotes goal being chalked off. Very weak ref in a few games Ive seen him.

Think I made the point a few weeks ago about Pardews subs. Why or why is it always Anita and Goufran that get taken off. Today, Anita was probably our best player, maybe just ahead of tiote. He was everywhere and was keeping us moving. Sissoko has been dog sh17 since pretty much his first few games. He is an athlete, but no footballing brain. He isnt a great passer and wont create much. For his size he doesnt command things like tiote does. I know Pardew has played him just about everywhere, but he has never convinced me consistently. Its just no matter how bad he plays, its always Anita or Goufran who are taken off.

I think its too easy for Pardew.

I must admit though, I was pleased with our performance. Chin up for some tricky games coming. Lets turn over West Ham, especially after they lost another two defenders.
