Kinnear Announces New NUFC Training Ground Plans

Newcastle United Director of Football Joe Kinnear has today announced plans for a new training complex for the club. The current site will be fully redeveloped and the work is expected to start on the new facilities in May 2015 and be completed by early 2016. The site will be eco friendly and produce it's own energy according the club's press release. 

Kinnear told NUFC.co.uk;

"This is a hugely exciting development.

We have one of football's great stadiums and we are delighted to now be announcing plans for a training complex which will rival any in Europe.

Top players and top teams need top training and medical facilities and this will also be an added attraction when we are looking to recruit players."

A formal planning application will shortly be submitted.

It's possibly no secret on here, that I am not a fan of Ashley, in fact I will happily go out and celebrate his death.

However perhaps, this could be the turning over of a new leaf and the realisastion that investment is actually needed if we are to be anything other than mediocre.

I hope that is the case, and in fact these plans, do not just actually remain plans because at the moment I am sceptical to say the least.

Our youth development has needed something new for years now hopefully this could be it.

So at the moment I am more than happy to applaud him in this, but before praising him all together I think I may wait to see if it actually happens.

The development is being financed by Wonga, it was part of the sponsorship deal that they financed a multi million pound redevelopment of the training facilities and they will also be investing millions in improving the youth set up.
