Newcastle United could face Fulham today without goal keeper Tim Krul. The Dutchman who was not available for selection against Morecambe on Wednesday night is struggling to be fit in time for the game and could be replaced by Rob Elliot. Pardew has said ahead of the game that he is more than confident in Elliot's ability after he stepped up last season when Krul dislocated his shoulder.

He said;

“The other fella (Elliot) has been terrific. He’s come in under the radar. We brought him for a few hundred grand, which was nothing really.

Everybody thought he was worth that for a reason, but he’s a much better player than that. He’s comfortable round the lads here, and we’ve accepted him for the Premier League goalie that he is.

So I’ve got no problem with Robbie if he has to play. On a difficult night at Morecambe, Elliot’s saves – and decision making – laid the foundations for United’s victory, secured by late goals from Shola and Sammy Ameobi.

Some of the decisions he made were brilliant. On crosses, he punched a couple and he stayed for a couple.

That’s important, and he’s good at that. I think the fans were brilliant against West Ham, and then at Morecambe.

Yes, it was Morecambe’s biggest crowd, but half of them were supporting Newcastle. I want to thank them for that.

What we hope today is we repay that journey. It wasn’t the best journey, or the best journey home."
