Newcastle United will have to be happy to take a point today at the Stadium of Light. after going a man down in the first half and failing to score in the 2nd. Yohan Cabaye scored for Newcastle in the 3rd minute of the game, before Cheik Tiote was given a straight red in the 25th. Martin O'Neill must have given a strong pep talk at the interval because Sunderland came out the more motivated.
The home side dominated much of the possession in the second half, but still didn't look like scoring, until Demba Ba got Sunderland the equaliser in the 85th minute, with the ball coming off his face.
Alan Pardews side picked up all the cards with bookings for Shola Ameobi (29), Fabricio Coloccini (69), Mike Williamson (84) and Yohan Cabaye (86). Tiote picked up the only red card of the game.
Newcastle take their point to 11th in the Premier League table. Sunderland stay in 14th.
