Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has offered a lifeline to Nile Ranger, despite the strikers off-field antics proving problematic. Ranger has been in trouble with Police twice in the last 2 weeks. The first incident on 27th August 2011 saw him bailed after being arrested in connection with an assault, which resulted in a male suffering a broken jaw and being knocked unconscious. Then last week, whilst on bail, he was arrested by Police on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and driving without insurance.

Again, 21 year old Ranger was bailed, this time pending the results of a blood test. His car was also taken off him by Police. Pardew, who has dropped Ranger from the starting eleven and has failed to name him in recent reserve games said of the situation;

"Nile needs to understand what the responsibilities of a professional footballer are. It is not just about what you do on a football pitch.

These incidents keep coming up and I am not going to accept them. They need to stop happening and then I will start thinking about considering him.

But he has a responsibility as a role model to younger players and to people in the city. There is no-one else involved.

He needs to sit down and have a good talk to himself because everybody else has talked to him. We are at that stage."

Back in May of this year Ranger was forced to apologise to the club and fans after being photographed holding a replica weapon. The club went on to release a statement which said;

"The club have spoken to Nile and can confirm that the item shown in the photograph is a replica firearm, which it is not an offence to own.

Nile regrets posing for the photograph. 'The club will be speaking with the player this week about the importance of being a positive role model to young fans."

It's not the first (or second) time Ranger has been in trouble. As a youngster of 15 he was convicted of participating in a street robbery and was sentenced to 11 weeks in a youth offenders institution. He was later released by Southampton due to his behaviour.

Yeah well once he gets his head straight, he'll still have to learn to find the goal before he can help us.

The lad has talent and I do think he will turn into a good player, but I can't see it being with us. He does need to understand that players have a responsibility of the pitch, and sometimes the club needs to make a point and f@ck somebody off to send the message out to other kids at the club, on this occossion I would agree with it happening

Tru dat, tru dat. Especially as he has a 120k black and white Range Rover, with RANGER on the bonnet and POWER RANGER on the boot.

The kid needs toed around the place.
