Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has his hopes pinned on a return to first team action against Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, after recovering from a hamstring problem which has kept him out since the beginning of January. He will however have fierce competition when it comes to the starting line up.
Manager Alan Pardew has made his position on Taylor's return clear, explaining that when Williamson was injured and Taylor played, he made his return to the bench, indicating that this time Taylor could take to the bench, allowing Williamson to retain his starting place.
Pardew said;
"Steven was in the team, was playing well and Mike had to sit it out. It's vice versa this time because Coloccini and Williamson were terrific on Saturday.
He will play a reserve game against Manchester United next week and then he should be available for our home game against Bolton."
I like Williamson and has less mistakes in him that Taylor but I dont think he is the player to get the team by the scruff of the neck. If the team is poor then Williamson is also, like the first half against Arsenal and Fulham away.
But yes mate, the competition is good and nice to see that AP is happy to stick with the team who have done well lately and not just stick the supposed bigger players back in.
Don't really disagree with any of that BB, but it can't have pushed Williamson much to know that there's nobody who's going to take his job. S. Taylor also offers better cover at RB than Perch.
He put in a good shift yesterday when he came on. Got down the field to attack well, and put in a nice cross from the by-line. Glad to have him back, and the battle for the CB spots is a lot more interesting now.
aye definitly goo dto have him back tho i think he is probably going to be cover for RB or gives us the option of 5 at the back sometimes when need be.
