Chris Hughton has laughed off speculation linking striker Andy Carroll to Tottenham Hotspur in a £6million move. Carroll, who played a key role in the side's promotion last season and has had a great start to this season in the Premier League will not be going anywhere in January if Hughton has his way.
Hughton said of the situation;
"Amused is probably the right word - I thought the window had closed.
Of course, I have heard the speculation and it is probably testament to him and the season he has had so far, albeit we are only four games in.
He has started the season very well and with any player who is doing well you expect some speculation. But from our point of view, there is absolutely nothing in it - and we don't want there to be either."
didnt he bid three times that much for jones 18 months ago? carroll is already as good as jones, but with a far better attitude to hard work, a cleaner shot, and age on his side.
you can tell there are some reasons for optimism on tyneside, as the nonsense stories to unsettle us have started in the london press
