Former Arsenal, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Notts County defender Sol Campbell is currently undergoing a medical at Newcastle United with a view to signing for the club tomorrow, however the club have refused to comment on the current developments.
The 35 year old would prop up manager Chris Hughton's ailing defence, with Steven Taylor now ruled out until October after having his shoulder pinned and Danny Simpson who has a ruptured tendon, not due back until September.
Campbell who will bring experience to what is a very young squad at Newcastle, has already held talks with Arsenal, Celtic and Sunderland this summer.
