Aanholt Makes Championship Team Of The Week

By Tyne-Talk
February 1 2010

Newcastle United's new 1 month loan signing Patrick Van Aanholt made an impressive start at the club on his debut against Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium and his performance got him a place in the Football League Coca Cola Championship team of the week. He is lined up alongside Shaun Barker of Derby, Wayne Brown of Leicester City and Eddie Nolan of Preston.

Aanholt's inclusion in the team is an excellent start for the youngster, who Chris Hughton must be eying up for a more permanent deal at Newcastle.

Sadly there's no chance Chelsea would let us keep him permanently because it looks like he's going to be a quality player.

I can't see it being a problem in us extending the deal, chelsea will see it as the lad is getting games. It would be worth doing a cheeky bid, worse case is we get told where to go

he is a long way from first team at chelsea. i hope enrique stays and plays for a long time yet, but chelsea may let him join for a season loan as back up

Agree LMK, Cole is not excactly old and some say is the best LB in the world. Add to that 18 mill Zhirkov who is only mid twenties and thats a lot to overcome. There would be nothing wrong with the lad coming in on a season or two loan.

A. Cole was the best LB in the world. There's a few-not many-I'd have before him at this point.

Don't think Chelsea will sell him, either. Would be nice, though...

Not sure I agree with that statement, but easily the best Englishman. Maybe before Lahm came on the international scene I could second that sentiment.

Cole is a big game player and when he plays against world class players he never lets you down, to me he is the best.

When you look at the Chelsea set up then maybe we stand a chance especially if we add in the sell on percentage to chelsea

Cole is a defensive liability at times, something I can't really say of Lahm or Taiwo based on what I've seen.

no evra supporters on here?
the two seasons prior to this one he was right up there. the most important factor for me is who these guys are playing with, mind. it takes something very special to get to the top of the game and to become a regular at a successful club, beyond that it takes an incredible team to bring out the very best of the very best players.

we dont need any of these guys, by the way. someone with the quality, attitude to team work, and application of john beresford would be absolutely perfect. never a world beater, but talented and willing to work for the cause.

Evra is class, too-no doubt. I'd have him over Cole.

Evra for me to. Think he has a better injury record than Cole who, lets not forget, is a total C.ock.

Cole is a c@ck and I hate the bloke but he is a great player and I think he is the worlds best in his position. Evra is a fantastic player but given the choice on football alone I would choose Cole.

Really hard as I hate both clubs and most of the players that play for these clubs have an arrogance about them
