POLL: Which Loan Player Would You Pick To Sign In January?
By Tyne-Talk
October 28 2009
With Chris Hughton named as manager of Newcastle United within the last 24 hours, Tyne-Talk is polling readers and asking "If you could pick 1 loan player to sign for Newcastle Utd in January, who would you choose?" Marlon Harewood (Aston Villa), Danny Simpson (Manchester United) and Zurab Khizanishvili (Blackburn Rovers) are all currently on loan deals.
We need Simpson for the rest of the season and if we can get him long term that's even better. Ryan Taylor has played well this year, but he's still not a proper full back and is a bigger asset to us at right mid.
Khish would be nice to have as cover, but not at the cost of experience to the younger center backs. If other defenders are available for loan, we should get them instead.
Harewood, as Andrew stated, is costing Ranger playing time and not providing much in return. He's shown good power, but not enough to warrant holding on to him once Ameobi gets back.
Jan shopping list:
Resign Danny Simpson
Loan: Center/Left Backs
Buy: Young, pacy striker to run off Ranger/Carroll; left footed players who can cross.

Fully agree, but would add a creative midfielder if we play with a 5 man midfield
