POLL: Would you like to see Chris Hughton as manager?

After a great start to the season under caretaker manager Chris Hughton and his colleague Colin Calderwood, Tyne-Talk is polling readers and asking "Would you like to see Chris Hughton appointed as manager?" Hughton has the full backing of the players but do you wish to see him continue managing the side or would you prefer to bring someone else in?

i went with 'no', but i cant really offer an alternative name, either. we are in limbo until the sale issue is sorted, so its hard to imagine hughton or anyone else being offered a permanent deal for the time being. unfortunately, the issue would only be forced, without new owners, by a bad run of results, which no-one wants to see
I voted no, only because I am thinking long term, I don't think Hughton will produce things week in week out in the premiership as he struggles with the formation of the side, we look better as a 4-5-1 and we have been going with a 4-4-2. He is also a yes man so he will get walked all over.
I think he has done a great job lifting the players but as I said above and I also think there are better out there who would come once the takeover has went through

I voted no, we should be beating some of the teams we've lost to and I agree with TTID about formation.
defo no , he hasnt got a clue about tactics, specially at home dont really trust him transfer market too, james vaughan was available on loan and he plumps for a plank like harewood dosent make sense to me, we are crying out for pace not for heading ability up front

i voted yes but don't want him long term just the club to make a statement saying he has the job until... Christmas/may just so the players feel the slightest tinge of stability.

Havnt been on in a couple of days and thought this poll might come up.
Ive said no when this has come up before and still said no now. What he has done so far has been great and when everthing else was up in the air he just got on with the job. I wouldnt replace him until any deal has been done with the take over and a plan for the future (wouldnt that be a thing) has been produced.
I think the last few games has shown that maybe we are a bit one dimensional under him but I suppose he is just working with what he has.
On the other hand, I dont know why, but I would be a bit frightened of putting Shearer in charge in case it is another false dawn. I would be happier with experience, but like has been said, WHO.
I voted no too BUT I cant see much of another viable option at the moment.

I cast the first vote which was yes. Because I believe we need stability. A new manager would completely rock the boat.
Moot point now cause he is apparently. Not overly keen on the move, particularly after reading the quote from Ashley (in another article concerning the sale of the club)that "any players coming in will be picked by me" meaning Chris will simply be a yes man, but as lmk said, I can't think of another name myself, or of anyone who would want to come into this, so we'll just have to get behind our "new" manager and hope he can lead us back up.
Strachan is the best manager still without a side, but he'd cost too much and wouldn't come knowing that once the club is sold it's a change.
yeah CND, i saw that too, i think he said he'd have final say, which is hardly earth-shattering is it - every manager since football started has gone to the owner or chairman with transfer target requests. the final say has always been that of the ultimate boss, the owner. not fishing for a new keegan argument here by the way, just saying that that particular statement need not be taken as saying ashley will himself be scouting our next new signings!
Would love to be able to say Ashley will have learnt from his mistakes on picking his own player ..yeh right./....Final say is normal in any business
We don't have a option other than Hughton. No other manager would put up with the state of the club under Ashley espcially if he is picking the players that are brought in. So unless the takeover happens which it won't then he is the best option. This should have happened ages ago as we kne we were not getting anybody else. I voted that he isn't the manager longterm to take us forward, but in the short term he can hopefully sort the club out as long as he gets the tactics right
I said no but I guess I'll support him if he gets the job. Who else would want to come here in the situation we are in.
Ashley having the final say about the players we buy doesn't worry me I'm sure that's the same with a lot of owners. Maybe he'll choose more carefully now we know it's his responsibility. In my opinion the last few managers we've had haven't served us well in that department.
