Kinnear: Desperate To Get Back Into It

By Tyne-Talk

Former interim manager Joe Kinnear has told Newcastle United he is fit to return to the club as manager if the offer is on the table. The 62 year old was forced to leave his position at the club in February due to huge concerns over his health after undergoing a triple heart bypass. Chris Hughton took charge of the club before Alan Shearer was introduced for the final games of the season.

Kinnear has now spoken out about his health and his interest in returning to the club, he told Sky Sports News;

"I've gone from bad to being much, much better than I was. I've got the all-clear. Things are working out well for me. I feel as fit as a fiddle.

I love the game. I'm desperate to get back into it. It just depends where and when. I just hope it happens sooner (rather) than later.

My contract was up at the end of the season. Mike (Ashley) knows I'm still available. I'm not sure how far down the road they are of selling it.

I spoke to Mike last week. He told me he has people very much interested in it and maybe the decision for me to go back there is away from him, because obviously new owners might come in.

Obviously if they don't and they haven't got anybody else I thoroughly enjoyed my time when I was up there. I thought I did well up there. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the people. I enjoyed the team.

I'm pretty sure that the run I got the team on at the time, it would have seen us through, but it's a bit late for that now.

My opportunity would be to support Mike and Derek (Llambias). They are the people who gave me the job in the first place. If it does come, with the same scenario as last season, then I'm ready for the right."

Personally I don't want Kinnear as the gaffer long term, and don't really see the point in bringing him in temp, if we are going to bring in somebody temp then isn't Shearer the better choice as you would imigane he would stand the better chance of getting the job.

Don't get me wrong I am glad Joe is back on his feet and feeling better. Joe also proved me wrong last season as at the time I thought it was a stupid appointment, and I do hope he does get another job as he would have got himself in the public eye again. If not then I wouldn't mind him moving upstairs in some role as long as it didn't effect Shearer. If we did get Shearer then having an experienced ex manager on the board could prove vital to give Shearer advice if needed, once Shearer said which players he wanted he could just leave Joe to sort out the wages and lengths of cotracts

The fact that he said, "I thought I did well up there" says everything about the man....

Plus he gave Shola a 3 year big money deal.
