Could Hughton Be In Charge For 1st Game Of The Season?

By Tyne-Talk

All appears to be very quiet in the north east at the moment, a worrying fact which could potentially see Assistant Manager Chris Hughton in charge come the beginning of the season. Hughton who is currently overseeing the pre-season training programme has made it clear he is unable to comment on how long he will be in charge, he also said he has nothing to do with player management at present....

... not that their appears to be much of it at St James' Park at the moment.

Owner Mike Ashley who has made a catalogue of errors since his arrival at the club has proved his arrogance this week by allowing 2 players with potential to leave amid claims of a pay rise for some of the better paid players.

Hughton told The Journal;

"I don't know how long I will be in charge for. It could be three days, a week, two weeks, three weeks, I'm not sure.

My job will be to make sure that the squad is properly prepared, to begin work on pre-season and begin a good programme that gives us a chance of doing what we want to do - getting back into the Premier League.

As regards anything else like bringing in players, that is not my responsibility at the moment. At some stage someone will come in and take over from me."

If July goes by without any chances (sale etc), then he could be in charge but I BLOODY WELL HOPE NOT or we will be doomed from the start!

If he is still in charge come the start of the season, then we won't come up. This will mean the takeover hasn't happened, no manager in place and we have brought no new players in

The man is completely out of his depth managing. Bringing Kinnear back in would be better for the team, though it might kill the man!
