With just 2 weeks left as a Newcastle United player, out of contract striker Michael Owen appears to have attracted the attention of Hull City chairman Paul Duffen, who has been quoted in the tabloids expressing an interest.
Rumour has it that Hull would be prepared to offer Owen a £40,000 a week deal, £65,000 a week less than his contract with Newcastle, as well as added benefits of a £20,000 payout per game he plays and a £10,000 payout for every goal he scores.
In order for the 29 year old to sign up he would have to agree to a 1 year contract with the option of an additional 12months providing he played 15 games or more throughout the season.
Duffen told the NOTW;
"We're interested in Michael Owen on the right terms. He's a fantastic footballer. He's had a few injury problems but we would have to be interested in him.
If the right deal can be done then we would definitely be keen to sign him. We are an ambitious football club and we want to show that.
It would be an enormous move for us but the deal can be done if it is on the right terms."
On those terms I think he would be a good signing for them, Owen has came across that he hasn't cared for us but with the world cup coming up it wouldn't suprise me if he banged in the goals
The problem that Hull have that they think that they sign one player, that this is going to keep them up but if they don't provide the service then they won't stand a chance of Owen scoring on a regular basis, saying that he will get his fair share but probably won't be enough to save them. I just can't see him going there as there will be other offers here or abroad
I have read or heard somewhere today he has turned them down, apparently he wants to sign for a top premier team or a foreign club. Good luck who'd have him. Tbh I wouldnt want him to stay at us next season even if he did take a massive paycut.
Just dont really care at all. Even when he was scoring I felt little towards him. I think most fans are the same and have never trusted the cr4p that came out of his mouth.
Think of how people feel about Sir Les and other players. Owen will retire in a couple of years, yes a millionaire, but no one will give a sh17.
