Jose Enrique is hoping to make his comeback from injury against Portsmouth in 2 weeks time, but first he will have to watch his side go to White Hart Lane and face Tottenham Hotspur. Enrique who is currently struggling with a knee injury told the official club website nufc.co.uk; "This was a bad time to get injured because the team needs every player. But now I hope to be back for maybe the Portsmouth game.
For me it is disappointing because before I got injured I was playing well and had confidence.
But now I have to get fit for the remaining games and get back to the way I was playing.
I knew him (Alan Shearer) when I was in Spain watching The Premier League on the TV. He was a great striker and scored many goals for Newcastle and England.
He has come in and brought many rules and I think that is good because the team need discipline."
Ian Dowie has also confirmed that Joey Barton has not suffered a set-back with his recovery and has also pencilled in the Portsmouth game as his return date.
"There has been a suggestion that Joey has had a setback somewhere, but that isn't the case. Everything is fine with him and his recovery is on schedule as far as we're all concerned.
He desperately wants to get back playing again and we are all looking at the Portsmouth game at the moment for him to do that. If that comes round a little too soon for him, then it will be the game after that.
We'll have to see how he goes over the next week or so, but he is very determined, as you would imagine. That's the sort of character he is and hopefully he can play some part in that game."
