Joe Kinnear is trying to stake his claim at the club who offered him an Interim position after confirming he would like the job full time. Kinnear took his place on the touchline yesterday after being banished to the stands for his first game in control of the club 2 weeks ago; he watched his team walk away with a point from each game.

Word from the training ground is that Kinnear’s presence has boosted morale and the players are more confident in their approach to matches.

Kinnear said of his keeping his job;

"It's up to the people that come and buy it but of course I do. I'd like to hang on to it for as long as possible. It's probably the best club I've worked at and I want to make the most of it."

Last night’s performance...

"It was a fantastic performance from 10 men. I couldn't ask for more. We were totally committed, played some decent football and created more of the clear-cut chances. The good thing was we didn't get beaten and we've come out of it with a lot of credit and a point."

...and Michael Owen’s unsigned contract;

"You can't expect a player to sign a three or four-year contract while everything is so uncertain.

It's the same with the players who have contracts running out. You have to look and say it's so unstable at the present moment you can't blame them for looking elsewhere."

He can keep it for me.
If a new owner comes in, dont suddenly expect an influx of top class maangers to apply for the job.
NUFC is still the job many dont want.
Kinnear obviously has the players respect and trust and judging off the 2 last games I predict things will get alot better for us.

Time will tell on this issue

no way, i never wanted roeder as our permanent manager either, it was destined to fail. i really do hope joe does a good job that gets him back into football, i have a lot of respect for the guy, but not at our club i'm afraid.

no rush, lets see what happens. what if it goes t*its up again? i'm happy enough for him to carry on as caretaker, but why commit to anything when there is no need?

i just want to see us get a few wins, get away from the bottom of the table, the long term coaching future can wait until the club has been stabilised. joe kinnear seems to be a good bet while we wait, lets not ask anything more of him just yet
