Toon Look To Sign Zayatte

Newcastle United FC look like they are stepping up the pace to sign Young Boys Berne defender Kamil Zayatte, after his agent confirmed a proposed move to Everton has stalled and then continued to acknowledge Newcastle's interest in his client. Zayette has impressed at Young Boys after arriving from Lens in 2007 The 23 year old's agent Roger Boli told Setanta Sports:

"I don't know what is happening at Everton, actually there might be a slight problem between David Moyes and his president regarding the signing, and I'm also aware of the fact that Newcastle want him as well. I can't tell with which club he is going to sign for the moment, but I may tomorrow."

However, Sky Sports reported yesterday that Zayatte despite having a successful training day at Everton is in-fact currently on Tyneside holding talks. A figure of £3m is being reported as the likely offer should one be made and Young Boys Berne are unlikely to block a move.

Official site says he's in Toon training but has yet to sign anything.

It'll probably go the same way the Bassong deal went, get him to have a look then sign him.

"We had him in training this morning and he certainly looks like someone who could improve us," said KK of a player who signed for Swiss side Young Boys Berne from French outfit Lens a year ago.

"He plays three or four positions and I like those sorts of players so we'll see where we go."

Versitile is good given the thinness of the squad.

Uh, anyone seen him play? At all? Ever? Sold from Lens (relegated from Ligue 1) to a Swiss club. I doubt he's a worldbeater but at this point I guess we have to take what we can get.
