Harper: "We Cannot Afford To Lose"

Yet again rumours have been swirling around St James' Park and the media have once again decided that Keegan has just 2 games to go. Chairman Chris Mort has rubbished the increased speculation and the players have rallied around their manager. Steve Harper has publically declared the up and coming games against Birmingham & Fulham as two of the clubs biggest matches in a long time.

Harper, who turned 33 last week and is currently Newcastle's starting keeper after a groin injury forced Shay Given to the treatment room, gave the following interview:

"The next two games, at Birmingham and at home to Fulham, are the biggest the club has had in a long, long time.

We have got to get a minimum of four points from them. We cannot afford to lose either of them because they are two sides who are below us."

We have got to go to Birmingham looking to win the game, and then we have got to beat Fulham at home."

Newcastle have failed to secure a win in their last 12 Premier League games and are just 3 points from the drop zone in 15th place. Their last win was away to Fulham back in December.

i agree, we can't lose and fall below Birmingham, a tie there with a win v. Fulham almost gives us safety, i think 35 pts is enough to beat the drop
