Newcastle United FC are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to decide whether to stage a pre season friendly in China prior to the Bejing olympics. Many will see this move as a step towards game 39 as previous discussed in the media. However there are many team who travell abroad for preseason friendlies and tournaments, and so this should be viewed as no different.
Negotitions have started with Spurs due to the link between Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and former Spurs Vice Chairman Paul Kemsley and the plans have already been passed by the FA.
The news will come as no suprise to some who have viewed Mike Ashley's involvement in the Chinese Market with his company Sports Direct as having an ulterior motive where Newcastle United FC are concerned.
Enhanced speculation came last weekend when Ashley invited many of his Chinese associates to watch his club play Manchester United, a move he is now in hindsight probably regretting.
However should the match take place it will be an extremely high profile preseason game and will increase the clubs revenue from merchandise sales.
