Newcastle United midfielder Damien Duff has called for the troops to respond to the dismal performance against Manchester United last month which saw his side lose 6-0 in the 2nd half despite going into half time a goalless draw.
The Republic of Ireland international, had demanded his team-mates look to their previous match and identify where they went wrong, he believes that the humiliation of the defeat will spur the Magpies into action as they host Manchester United this Saturday in the late Kick Off.
Duff Said:
"We haven't forgotten what happened when we played them away. We went in at 0-0 at Old Trafford at half-time, which isn't a bad achievement for most teams.
But we know what happened after that. We have had a good two weeks to work on things and produce some quality."
He added how Keegan, who took the side "back to basics" this month, instead of flying them off to an exotic location to train, has made them work extremely hard in the break.
"It has been hard work - we have been pushed all the way by the gaffer."
He also believes that Stephen Carr has the ability to push Newcastle away from the danger Zone and into midtable safety.
"Stephen has been great. He only has until the summer until his contract expires, but as a friend and a player I'd love him to stay.
I know he's had his injury problems at Newcastle, like I have, but he is a great person to have around and most of the players would agree with that.
He has the experience we need at the moment.
People criticise players for being injured, but he hasn't moaned about anything.
He just works hard on things, like I do, and he will always give 100%."
